FARMER – MIXED VEGETABLE FARM – MONTVILLE, MAINE
True North Farms, a 52 acre MOFGA certified organic vegetable farm in Montville, Maine, is interviewing for an experienced farmer for the 2014 season, beginning in May 2014. We have 4.0 acres under cultivation and use a combination of tractor and manual methods. We will grow 30 crop types with over 90 varieties of vegetables in 2014. We have one half-acre in garlic with 15 varieties. Major jobs are seed starting, transplanting, hoeing, weeding, harvesting, mulching, grading, cleaning produce, and packing for market. We sell wholesale to restaurants and retail outlets. We will sell garlic on the Internet in 2014. We are involved with a nutrient dense biological approach to farming. Monthly on-farm tutorial by our farm consultant. We share a farm lunch at mid-day.
